I'm rewriting this for some reason it was lost in trying to save/publish the last blog.
Do you love yourself? Do you even like yourself? A Preacher I know once said, "You've got to love yourself, before you can love anyone else!" How true! Do you have problems feeling good about things you do or ideas you have? Are you always second guessing things you do in your life? Can you look in the mirror and feel good about how you look or what you have on? Sadly, a lot of people can't answer yes to one of those questions. People just go through their very daily existence without and hope or self worth. How can you expect to feel good about others, if you can't like yourself or what you do?
The whole thing is LOVE YOU! You say, that's easier said than done! So true, but yet so easy. First, sit down and make 3 columns. One of what you like about yourself/what you do, Second, what you want to change about yourself....and Third what it will take to fulfill doing it. Look in the mirror and see yourself for who you really are. Do you like to dress up? Then do it! Do you like to help other people? Find a way to do it! Maybe you're a crafty type of person...invest time in what you love! You will find out you will begin to love yourself! Have a hard time just feeling good about yourself? Go for a walk, talk with a friend, read an inspiring book! One such Book is the Bible, one can not open the Bible and not be inspired!
In anything that you are doing - Love being you! Don't try to imitate someone else, you are a unique individual with special talents. Explore the talents and creativity you possess!
Never let how you feel about yourself be reliant on someone else! Start now to Love YOU! You will find it will make a difference in who you are and become. And it will make you want to reach out to others!
Until next time! God Bless! Kathy

Daily Joy
It seems that there is not many places in the US that doesn't have snow. It seems that over the past week, we've been blessed with an abundance of snow. Yes, it makes it hard to get around to work, school, appointments, etc; but look how beautiful it is. Have you taken time to just watch the snow as it falls? Do you marvel at it's soft look as it gently floats to the ground? Think about each snowflake being uniquely different! What an awesome God we serve to have established this!
I know that a lot of people look at each day in an overloaded capacity. How sad! So many are missing out on pure daily Joy! There is joy in just being able to get out of bed! Some of us can get out of bed easier than others..but to just be able to go through out daily routines should bring us Joy. I have met so many people in the past few years that look for sorrow. They have no intention of looking for anything but being miserable. And a lot don't want to be around others unless they are miserable as well. How sad! I know a lot of our Church family, immediate family and friends are facing enormous health and financial issues; but in that....our day can become brighter by being joyful. In the Old Testament in the Bible there is a verse...
Proverbs 15:13 "A merry heart maketh a cheerfull countenance..."
So as you go through your daily routine; look at it as an adventure. No two days are ever the same, start looking at your days differently. Reach out each day to make things happen that will make you joyful! Look for the positive, ignore the negative. Is your health bad and have you down? Don't despair, this too shall pass! Are your finances just not there? Things will look up, we all bottom out at some point in life. Our daily existence is a challenge; and you will only get out of it what you put into it. I know what pity parties are and what depression is. I've visited those places far too many times; especially recently. But I have made it a promise to myself to find the adventure in God's roadway for me. I'm determined to find the happiness and joy that each day can bring me. Things don't always go our way and they shouldn't. We all need some type of challenges in our lives to make us stronger and more determined.
As you read this you may become angry or upset; I am trying to get you to look at the positive in life. There is too many negative things in our lives to not be joyful. I love the Children's song - "I've got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy down in my Heart.." Do you? If not, now is the time to find something in your daily life to bring you joy. Look around, you've been blessed!
Have a wonderful weeknd! God Bless!

Finding your Purpose
Good Morning!
Last week was very hectic and I didn't get around to blogging! Sorry!
This week started out yesterday with a lot on my mind. How many people go through each day as a routine? Do we just do things out of habit? Do we even find our days fulfilling? It is so sad to see people just basically living day to day with out purpose. We all have a purpose in life; the real challenge in life is to find out what our daily purpose is. Mothers find their purpose mostly taking care of their children and household tasks. Career people find their fulfillment in the tasks before them each day at work. Some men and women find their fulfillment/purpose in working out at the gym. Still others find gratification in helping others! What a way to find contentment; looking out for the needs of others. I know some people, especially people raising other peoples children find satisfaction in just being there for these precious little ones. I have some family(friends) who are foster parents; how loving they are to open their home to children in need. Over the years they have had numerous babies/children/teens needing a loving home to live. Suzie and Doug have overlooked their own needs and have extended God's love to so many. What would happen to the children out there that are in need of a foster home without people like this? I also think of all the people who help with the homeless shelters. The tireless hours that go into working at these shelters are sometimes overlooked by many. And then what of family raising children of family members. We had friends who ended up adopting a child of a family member who found herself pregnant as a teen. What love abounds in people's hearts to extend the open arms necessary to do this! In each of these situations, people have found the purpose in their lives to show God's love to others in need.
But what about you? Have you found your purpose? Each of us have a purpose in our daily lives to extend themselves to others. Some are able to implement hospitality to others more openly than others. How are you for being open to your purpose? As a parent do you put your child's needs before yours? I have know some parents being so selfish that their children are left without. They are without the basics; but, also lacking love and the nurturing that only a parent can give. Parents do not realize the trust that God has given them with their children. We are not to be selfish, but to extend ourselves openly to our children. I know in raising our 3 children, there were times that I wanted certain things; but my kids always came first. Does that mean spoiling them? NO! But it does mean putting their needs before your own. So, many today have no idea on how to raise a child. Being a minister's wife, I have seen the selfishness of parents who will buy alcohol, drugs, high end fashionable clothing; the whole time the children do without. How wrong these parents are! Some may call me judging them, so be it! I have know children, when I drove a school bus for 28 years that got on the bus and no breakfast had been given to them. This is such a drop in the bucket compared to some stories I could share. But again, the parents that ignore the needs of their children will one day pay for their self-centered lifestyles.
Then there are wives and husbands that are so egotistical. Their only desire in life is to look out for number one - themselves! On the day of a marriage ceremony a covenant is formed between a man, a woman and God. And this is witnessed before family and friends! We are to love and to cherish,

Then there are wives and husbands that are so egotistical. Their only desire in life is to look out for number one - themselves! On the day of a marriage ceremony a covenant is formed between a man, a woman and God. And this is witnessed before family and friends! We are to love and to cherish,
comfort , honor, in sickness and in health, and
forsaking all others, keep yourself only
unto her/him, so long as you both shall live?
To
have and to hold from this day forward.
For better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in
health; to love and to cherish- till death do us part. According to God’s Holy ordinance – and there
too, do I give thee my pledge.
How sad for so many to forget the promises they make on the day they are wed. Couples today feel it so easy to get into and out of marriage that they enter into this union without any real commitment.
We are to nourish each other; whether a spouse, children, family, friends or acquaintances. How much better would we find our purpose of life be if we all practiced this type of love. God's love!
Today, take an inventory of what you feel you need to work on in your life's purpose. If you've never opened a Bible, may I suggest you open it and read. You can start in the New Testament book of John. We all need to engage in working on bettering ourselves. And the best way is to allow God to work through our lives. Be the best you can be in demonstrating God's unconditional love today. You may find your purpose in life faster than you think! Some may say, well I can't get out among people...you can pray for them. Maybe if it's someone you know that needs a word of encouragement send them a nice note. The art of writing letters has gone out of style with the use of computers. Just work on the purpose that God has put into your life. You will find yourself happier than you've ever been!
Until tomorrow- Kathy

Taking time to enjoy the day!
My husband's first thing to this morning; I know you haven't been feeling well, let's get out of the house. So, I take my camera and much to my delight; not too far from our home was an area with snow. I got my camera out and enjoyed taking a few pictures.
One of the shots was of an old hand water pump. I started thinking how often some of us have to be pumped up to get going. We don't even want to face the day without being pushed to do it. Some of those old hand pumps had to be primed too. So many times we humans need priming; whether with caffeine, a friendly push or God's word. Then there's the picture of the old house standing there just forgotten. Some of us feel this way! We feel like life is passing us by and no one even cares if we exist. But we need to know God does! Then there's the picture of the small frozen stream, pouring down over the rocks. It's making its way down to the main part of the stream. Now the main stream has frozen sides but the current is strong and has a direct course. Just like the stream some of us face the hard part of going over the rocks in our life; we hit some snags but it gets easier when we get to the main current. God has the small streams direction planned out and knows it will be easier once it's joins the main current. That's how our lives are; hard times come but with perseverance holding onto God's hand we can make it. No matter what we face in life we can be like the picture I took of looking up through the trees and know that above the trees the beauty of the sky is coming through. The woods may be shaded at times by the leaves of the trees, but the light that gives life shines through. We all need to remember no matter what clouds or covers our lives with doubt will disappear. We have to be confident that God's shining light is there for us in all areas of our lives.
I hope that today this has been encouraging to one of you! Take time to enjoy what the day has for you! Don't always look at the negative or your spirit will become depressed and overwhelmed. There is too much good on our adventure in life that God blesses us with.
Hoping today finds you well and inspired!

Enjoy the small things!
Things sure change quickly in this life! How many of us walk or drive the same way daily and notice nothing around us. My husband had to take me to Gettysburg today to set up my cancer treatments; on the way we saw 17 different hawks. Now, most people as they are driving or even riding along notice nothing alongside the road. Steve and I have always looked for wildlife along the roads or in the woods if we are hiking. Haven't been able to hike in a while, due to health issues. But, we always make it a priority to take in God's beauty. Now, those of you in the city may think what beauty can you see there? But, take a look around you...there are great architecture designs in the buildings, there is birds in the city. Some say they never see anything beautiful in the city....they're not looking. Great things can always be found, the clue is to look for it.
How many of us have children? How many of us take for granted the sweet smiles, or dirty handprints on the refrigerator? Do you own a pet? Just take 5 minutes and watch your pet; it will lower your stress level. Take a few seconds and pet your dog or cat! The calming affect that children or pets can have on you are enormous. I watch my 2 yr old granddaughter some and the time spent with her; it takes my mind off the hurt and pain I might be experiencing that day. I love to watch our 2 year old lab turn upside down to have his belly rubbed. And may I add, he does I with a smile. Yes, we take the small things in life for granted.
The next time your home; turn off the tv, turn off the cell/ipad/electronic device and just sit! Enjoy some quiet time, our society has become so engrossed in having noise around us that we don't enjoy anything else. We wake up in the morning, our feet hit the floor running! How terrible that we don't take time to enjoy life. I've learned that life is way too short not to take time for ourselves. As I sit here and write, my voice tonight isn't even a whisper! I think of the times I would sing in our Church or other places and the sadness of never being able to sing again hits me hard. We don't appreciate what we have until it's gone. My how I would love to go back and sing in all the places I use to! I miss not being able to sing, read, talk...I use to call my 87 yr old mother everyday just to check up on her welfare and she'd call me. Now, she can't hear me talk; how sad we take so many things in life for granted. My 10 yr old grandson, won't hear me read to him or his 2 year old cousin anymore..on good days when my voice is a whisper; if I force it..it just goes away. I use to love to sing with them, laugh with them, or just be able to communicate with them. Now, I just enjoy their company! The hugs, hearing them talk, hearing them laugh, taking in all I can.
Family and friends don't understand how important they are either. We all become so busy with life, work, etc that we forget to let others know how important they really are to us. We get so wrapped up with our own lives that we forget to give back to those who mean so much to us!
You might be asking, what's she getting to? Well, the next time you may be in your backyard; look in the trees and see if you can spot a bird. Or as you drive along, look around you. Pay attention to what things you can see; wildlife? Birdlife? People? You will soon find yourself looking for different things in life. Take time and don't rush around! Look for the pleasant things around you!
Some of you probably haven't read a book since school; go to the library! Better yet, start your own library; start by buying a good book and start reading. Reading is like taking a mini vacation! Most places in books we will never visit; but in a book we can take all kinds of adventures no matter how old we are. Just take some time and enjoy the small things in life!
Take a walk, a ride, read a book, listen to music, do something that will make you appreciate yourself and those around you!
Enjoy all the small things in life! You never know if it will be too late to enjoy the experience again. God has surrounded us with so many great things; and it's up to us to stop and enjoy them.
God Bless!

Be kind to yourself
Sorry I wasn't on here yesterday, I've ended up with Bronchitis and was a little under the weather.
Soo, how many of us are our worse critics? We work so hard to become successful in the world tht we lose out on many small successes in our lives. I know that in trying to get ahead, we often leave what's important in the slow lane and forget about it. How do you treat yourself? Do you have self confidence? What about self worth? That's a hard one for many people. We tend to leave behind ourselves and our families as we strive to get ahead. Many marriages become stagnant and hardly blissful due to one or the other spouse so engrossed in "making it!" When was the last time you and your spouse had a nice quiet dinner together? No cells, no pagers, no ipads, no electronics at all! No tv..just the 2 of you sitting there together enjoying each other's company?
Wait, what about the children...when was the last time your family had dinner sitting at the table together? I know this family, granted their children are upper teens that mealtime is everyone for themselves. It's no wonder our society has people that don't know how to connect with each other.
We need to fight for what is important to us!
First, be kind to yourself! Take time to pamper; whether female or male. Even guys need a nice hot shower to relax, or maybe time to read a book or even play a video game. I know, I know..you're saying video game? Yes, that's how a lot of guys nowadays relax. Do something YOU like to do! Take time to go for a nice quiet stroll in the park, or walk your dog around your neighborhood. Do something for yourself everyday. It's important that we like ourselves. We can never extend our love to others; whether family or friends until we actually like/love ourself! And by the way people watch you, yes you; to see how you treat your own body.
Our children mimic us; in all we do. Did you ever catch your child watch you shave, whether man or woman..(shaving your legs). Did you ever think that how you treat your mate will someday on how your child treats there mate? Remember, anything worth having is worth working at! And having a marriage and family is hard work. So, be kind to yourself; all that you do will reflect on your family.
My children are all grown, married and 2 of them have children now; I wonder did I succeed as a mom Do you ever wonder that about yourself? I know when our last one got married in 08, I was not ready to stop being a mom. I know that might sound silly, and yes she was old enough and ready. But when you love your kids, you're always a mom.
Today, I urge you to do something good for you!! Remember..
"I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made..." Psalm 139:14
Until tomorrow...be good to yourself..your are God's child!

Getting Busy!
So we are now 3 days into the New Year; how's your day going? Are you working? Just Relaxing? On Vacation? At School? Lazying around? There's a lot to be said for relaxation; however, sometimes it can take on a new meaning when you become depressed. People who are on vacation, or school has been closed for some reason enjoy relaxing. Others who have lost a job, or even those who have retired become depressed. They don't know what the next minute should hold. Medical problems can really throw you for a loop! I have found that out personally! There are so many projects; whether quilting, crocheting or cross stitching I have to do.....
Trying to make myself complete things right now are a major problem. Do I know I can do them? Absolutely! One of my main problems now is my eyesight. My left eye is almost blurred the entire day; and if I over use my right eye, it becomes tired and blurry. So should I just sit? No! I, like so many need to get going! I need to GET BUSY! I know if I stay busy, my pain from Fibromylgia and arthritis is still there; but I tend to just push myself further. Pain, depression, eyesight loss, arthritis, etc can try to grip our very core! Too many times medical problems seem to overcome everything we do. Our issues even try to become who we are...am I Lupus? or Fibromylgia? Or Arthritis? Or Horner's? Or anything else? NO! I am me! I am a person that God has created! None of us ever know why we have trials or infirmities to deal with; but we can become stronger by getting busy. Now, I'm not saying we all can just drop all our problems and just run. That's not what I'm saying at all; but there are days we all can confess we feel better than others. So, on days when you know it just takes a little motivation on your part...start slow and get busy. Do the sheets on your bed need changing? Change them..then rest. Do you need to grocery shop? Then go and enjoy getting out. It's never easy getting ourselves to move when we have pain. The pain can be so scary we sometimes overlook the days we feel good and could do things. We are afraid that we might overdo things and the pain will hurt worse.
Today is the day to start a positive attitude! GET BUSY! Yes, sometimes doing things makes the aches and pains hurt..but isn't being happy worth it?
I know there are days I just would like to stay in bed. My husband would have a fit! I can't believe how much energy he has now that he's had triple bypass. Does he still have pain from his left leg? Sure, but he's found out that a positive attitude keeps him moving. Plus, I tell everyone he has excess energy to burn! Some days, it actually hurts me with the Fibro to even have someone hug me...but I'm not going through life without touch! Things happen; we have little control over things that hinder us in life. But, we can have a better attitude which, will make us emotionally able to handle things better.
Don't forget in all we do; trust God to be there for us in everything!
Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."
And don't forget to write in your tablet. I encourage you to write down prayer requests, praises, thoughts, hurts and then things that are important to you. God will bless you as you write!
Hope you all have a great weekend! I"ll be back on Monday, Jan. 6th.
Until then....In Christ - Kathy
